Thinking of entertaining this holiday season? Why not gather inspiration from three new coffee table books that will not only get your ideas flowing, but make beautiful additions to your library. Brimming with gorgeous photographs and insider commentary, Jamee Gregory’s New York Parties, Private Views, Bobby McAlpine’s The Home Within Us and Carolyne Roehm’s A Passion for Interiors are books that should be on your list this fall.
In New York Parties, Private Views, Jamee Gregory gives us the insider’s peek into celebrations, both grand and intimate, of some of New York’s most celebrated hosts. The book delves into their behind-the-scenes preparations and insider tips on what makes a party successful, from invitation to special cocktails and ways to make a guest feel special. Harper’s Bazaar calls social fixture Jamee Gregory’s book a “must-have.”
When I lived in Charlotte, I could always spot a Bobby McAlpine Home. Classic in form but with modern touches and livability, his homes exude elegance and good taste. His driveways paved with pea gravel (my favorite, you can always hear your guest arrive) and his porches lit with timeless, over-scaled lanterns, McAlpine homes are true master pieces. If I can’t own one, I can at least read about them in his book, The Home Within Us. It’s definitely on my Christmas wish list.
And perhaps THE tastemaker of our time, Carolyne Roehm’s latest book, A Passion for Interiors, out November 9th, invites us into her favorite spaces in three remarkable homes, her own Manhattan duplex, her antique-filled Colonial-era stone house in Connecticut and a friend’s home in Aspen. If this book is anything like A Passion for Parties, her book on entertaining, it will definitely inspire and look beautiful sitting on your coffee table.
Our friends at The Country Book Shop have graciously offered readers a 15% discount on these three books through the month of November (click here to print coupon) any of which can be special ordered and arrive within a few days. They’d be a perfect gift for someone special or why not treat yourself? Tis the season!
